I don’t see my identity any differently. I am still me. I am still that same person.
Agnes, now 20, was adopted into Diana’s family when she was just one year old. From the time Agnes was small, Diana never shied away from the topic of adoption, speaking openly about it with Agnes and those around them. They recently spoke with Ming Pao to share their family’s story and Agnes’s journey of searching for her roots.
Agnes shared that she once dreamed of a woman she instinctively felt was her birth mother. However, she remains at peace about whether she will ever find her. Regardless of the outcome, the bond between Agnes, Diana and the rest of their family remains unchanged. ‘Our family is just like any other,’ says Diana. She believes that adoption does not make a family’s experience ‘special’. Being an adoptive parent is no different from any other home, where challenges are simply faced together. In a family, what matters most is always the love that connects them.

Our CEO, Sky Siu, shared in the interview that a family is the best environment for a child’s development. If growing up with their birth family is not possible, an adoptive family is the next best choice. She recalled an adoptee who visited Mother’s Choice and even considered adopting children themselves, witnessing how one adoption can go on to help future generations of children.
