Our CEO’s Farewell Message
Our CEO’s Farewell Message
Dear Mother’s Choice Family,
Since I joined as CEO in 2012, Mother’s Choice has grown into a dedicated team of over 150 staff members and 1,100 volunteers who share our vision of “every child in a loving family.” I am particularly proud of the new programmes we have launched in our four core service groups to break the intergenerational vicious cycle of teen pregnancy and children growing up in residential care, including:
- In Children Services: launching Project Bridge in 2014, a volunteer foster care programme to expand the number of placements for the many children waiting without a safe place to stay.
- In Youth Services: launching our digital outreach campaign on International Women’s Day 2024, which connects with young pregnant girls through social media.
- In Family Services: launching Safe Families in 2021, our support network for the growing number of young mothers who don’t have access to any community or safety net.
- In Community Services: launching our Child Protection programme in 2016, a critical investment that has equipped thousands of our staff and volunteers, to ensure the safety and well-being of children in the residential care system.
I am excited to pass the baton to Sky Siu, an experienced NGO leader, who will take over as CEO in August. Many have asked about my plans for the future. For the next year, I will take some time to rest and be with my husband and seven children (and now one foster child too!) before embarking on planning the next phase of my career.
The Mother’s Choice vision of every child in a loving family is more important now than ever in Hong Kong. We recognize that achieving this goal will take time and span multiple generations. However, we firmly believe that when we choose HOPE and work together, we can make Hong Kong the best place in the world to raise children. Thank you for everything you have done for me and Mother’s Choice through my tenure as CEO – I know that because of YOUR help, Mother’s Choice can continue to be a beacon of hope for our city.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Alia Eyres
