Student Summer Internship Programme 2021

What types of internships are available?

Our interns work within, and help support services and departments supporting children, youth, families and operations. There are 5 categories of internships available. Applicants should indicate their preferred category in their applications and WHY.

1. Media Support

Ideal for creative storytellers with video shooting, editing and graphic design skills. Preferably with knowledge in Photoshop, Canva, Premiere Pro or relating software.

• Projects include: creating content/editing videos on the adoptee experience for training and sharing, support production of creative work.

2. Research & Communications Support Internships

Ideal for those wishing to gain hands-on experience in researching specific topics/ issues and using that knowledge to create and develop core communication materials. Particularly suited to students with backgrounds in marketing and communications and/or with strong interests in creative storytelling.

• Projects include: developing child protection communication materials; producing a family assessment guide on children services for use by social workers; creating an information toolkit for foster parents.

3. Research & Programme Support Internships

Ideal for those with backgrounds in social sciences, education, psychology, public health, social work or related subjects wishing to explore how these areas converge in our programs for children, youth and parents. Experience with research is not mandatory but an open mind to learn new things would be a huge plus.

• Projects include: developing and writing Family Assessment Guides for social workers; research and review of comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) program evaluation surveys; research and review of volunteer home visiting services; developing e-Learning courses for volunteers, an English learning curriculum for teens and a toolkit for our Youth Leadership Council participants.

4. Administrative Support

Ideal for organized, tech-savvy students with a meticulous eye for detail, wishing to help create core systems and plans that underpin our operations. Knowledge of Photoshop/Adobe Autocad (for floorplan creation) would be useful.

• Projects include: researching and creating an inventory and procurement system for critical supplies; creating floor plans for our four offices; supporting documentation and admin work.

5. Translation Internships

Ideal for students with linguistics, translation and/or interpretation experience/ backgrounds. Excellent command of both written English and Chinese is essential.

• Projects include: translating positioning papers, develop and subtitles of e-Learning videos.

Where will you work?

Depending on the project, you may work in one or more of our offices in Mid-Levels or Kwun Tong, or work from home.

Interested applicants should prepare their cover letter or one-minute video indicating which type of internship they are interested in and why; and CV. 

The application is now closed!

You will then be invited to learn about Mother’s Choice and a brief interview in June. And you will be notified in June if you are selected.

What will I receive at the end?

We award students a certificate of service on completion of the internship program. The most memorable takeaway shared from the previous interns are friendships and able to make a difference in the community we love.
