AMY FUNG, CAREER COACH, MOTHER’S CHOICE AND ICF COACHING PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM

(1) So what inspired you to join the Mother’s Choice and International Coaching Federation (“ICF”) career coaching project?

As I mentioned, as a life and executive coach, I always want to support people not only in the corporate sector.  Part of me, I want to contribute back to society.  So when I noticed there is a project from ICF supporting Mother’s Choice, I immediately join.  And also from my past experience, ICF always organizes very professionally, high-standard events.  So when I received the newsletter, I was thinking this is a good opportunity for me to contribute back to the community.

(2) What has been the biggest takeaway for you collaborating with Mother’s Choice?

For me, first I get to know this organization more because actually, Mother’s Choice is a very reputable NGO like ever since I was young, but I didn’t realize there’s so much that Mother’s Choice provides. Other than providing support to teenage mothers, you have foster care, adoption, residential care for kids. So this is the first thing I learned more about Mother’s Choice.

Second, I was really impressed by the vision of Mother’s Choice:  “Every Child in a Loving Family”. And during the time when I worked with Lum (Mother’s Choice’s coachee), I really have the feeling that your staff’s work is totally aligned with this vision, because of the cases that she shared about the work that Mother’s Choice provides.  And so I feel that I was touched and also inspired by Mother’s Choice in that sense, and also encouraged me to do more to provide, supporting the NGO sector.

(3) What’s your advice to those who want to join this program?

I would say, just do it!  You will find more than you thought from the process because I always find that I learn so much from the client.  And also especially from NGOs, the work they have done, and then you would find the satisfaction that you cannot imagine. So just go ahead and do it!
